A Strategic Development for a Changing Economy
The CX Technology Campus is a proposed redevelopment of land to the north of the former Chapelcross nuclear power station in Dumfries & Galloway into a data centre-led technology and energy campus.
The project is being led by CX Power as Strategic Development Partner, working alongside public sector stakeholders and national agencies to deliver a long-term infrastructure asset of national significance.
The development includes:
- Up to 161,920 sqm of AI-enabled data centres
- On-site power distribution infrastructure and substation
- Light industrial and innovation space
- A training, education and skills hub
- Associated access, landscaping and infrastructure
Why This Matters
The UK faces two converging challenges.
Demand for data and artificial intelligence infrastructure is increasing rapidly. At the same time, the country must decarbonise energy systems and strengthen energy security.
CX Technology Campus provides a rare opportunity to address both by co-locating high-demand digital infrastructure with large-scale clean energy supply. This reduces transmission losses and improves system resilience.
